黃山，位于中國(guó)安徽省南部，屬中國(guó)南嶺山脈的部分，全山面積約1200平方公里。黃山山系中段，是黃山的精華部分，也就我們要游覽的黃山風(fēng)景區(qū)，面積約154平方公里。它在黃山市境內(nèi)，南鄰歙縣、徽州區(qū)、休寧縣和黟縣，北連黃山區(qū)；這五個(gè)縣、區(qū)也都屬于黃山市管轄。
黃山在中國(guó)唐代以前叫黟山，黟是黑樣子，因?yàn)樯缴蠋r石多青黑青黑的，古人就給它起這樣一名字。傳說(shuō)咱們中華族的先祖軒轅黃帝在完成中原統(tǒng)一在業(yè)、開(kāi)創(chuàng)中華文明之后，來(lái)到這里采藥煉丹，在溫泉里洗澡，因而得道仙。唐朝著名的皇帝明皇李隆基非常相信這個(gè)說(shuō)法，就在天寶六年（747年）下了一道詔書(shū)，將黟山改名黃山。意思是，這座山是黃帝的山。從那以后，黃山這個(gè)名字就一直到現(xiàn)在。

說(shuō)起黃山“四絕”，排在第一的當(dāng)是奇松。黃山松奇在什么地方呢？首先是奇在它無(wú)比頑強(qiáng)的生命力，凡有土的方就能出草木和莊稼，而黃松則是從堅(jiān)硬的黃崗巖石里長(zhǎng)出來(lái)的。黃山到處都生長(zhǎng)著松樹(shù)，它們長(zhǎng)峰頂，長(zhǎng)懸崖峭壁，長(zhǎng)在深壑幽谷，郁郁蔥蔥，生機(jī)勃勃。千百年來(lái)，它們就是這樣從巖石迸裂出來(lái)，根兒深深扎進(jìn)巖石縫里，不怕貧瘠干旱，不怕風(fēng)雷雨雪，瀟瀟灑灑，鐵骨錚錚。你能說(shuō)不奇嗎？其次是，黃山松還奇在它那特有的天然造型。從總體來(lái)說(shuō)，黃山松的針葉短粗稠密，葉色濃綠，枝干曲生，樹(shù)冠扁平，顯出一種樸實(shí)、穩(wěn)健、雄渾的氣勢(shì)，而每一處松樹(shù)，每一株松樹(shù)，在長(zhǎng)相、姿容、氣韻上，又各各不同，都有一種奇特的美。人們根據(jù)它們的不同的形態(tài)和神韻，分別給它們起了貼切的自然而又典雅有趣的名字，如迎客松、黑虎松、臥龍松、龍爪松、探海松、團(tuán)結(jié)松等等。它們是黃山奇松的代表。
怪石，是構(gòu)成黃山勝景的又一“絕”。在黃山到處都可以看到奇形怪異的巖石，這些怪石的模樣兒千差萬(wàn)別，有的像人，有的像物，有的有的反映了某些神話傳說(shuō)和歷史故事，都活靈活現(xiàn)，生動(dòng)有趣。在121處名石中，知名度更高一些的有“飛來(lái)石”、“仙人下棋”、“喜鵲登梅”、“猴子觀�！�、“仙人曬靴”、“蓬萊三島”、“金雞叫天門”等。這些怪石有的是龐然大物，有的奇巧玲瓏；有的獨(dú)立成景，有的是幾個(gè)組合或同奇松巧妙結(jié)合成景。還些怪石因?yàn)橛^賞位置和角度變了，模樣兒也就有了變化，成了一石二景，如“金雞叫天門”又叫“五老上天都”，“喜鵲登梅”又叫“仙人指路”就是移步換景的緣故。也還有些怪廠，在不同條件下看，會(huì)產(chǎn)生不能的聯(lián)想，因而也就有了不同的名字，如“猴子觀�！庇纸小昂镒油健北闶�。
再說(shuō)云海。雖然在中國(guó)其它名山也能看到云海，但沒(méi)有一個(gè)能比得上黃山云海那樣壯觀和變幻無(wú)窮。大約就是這個(gè)緣故，黃山還有另外一個(gè)名字，叫“黃�！�。這可不是妄稱，是有歷史為證的。明朝有位著名的`史志學(xué)家叫潘之恒，在黃山住了幾十年，寫(xiě)了一部60卷的大部頭書(shū)--黃山山志，書(shū)名就叫《黃�！�。黃山的一些景區(qū)、賓館和眾多景觀的命名，都同這個(gè)特殊的“�！庇嘘P(guān)聯(lián)，有些景觀若在云海中觀賞，就會(huì)顯得更加真切，韻味也更足了。這些也都證明，“黃海”這個(gè)名字是名副其實(shí)的。
