        Lesson 74

        Period: The Second Period

        Properties: Recorder, CAI

        Teaching Aims:

        1. To learn some new words and phrases: missing, pull, push, no longer, all by oneself, drop, eat up, bank, perhaps ,get back

        2 To improve the students’ ability of reading comprehension..

        Language Focus: To understand the whole story.

        Teaching Procedures:

        Step1. Greetings

        T: Is everyone here?

        S: Yes.

        T: Good. Everybody is here. Nobody is away. Is everything ready for class?

        S: Yes .

        Step 2. Look, listen and answer questions.

        Ok. First, let’s look at the pictures and listen carefully, then answer some questions.(課件顯示一系列圖片并配音,取材于初二《閱讀訓練》Unit 2)

        Questions:

        1. What’s the woman going to do?

        2. Is she going with anybody else?

        3. What’s she carrying? Is there anything in the basket?

        4. Where is she standing now?

        5. What happens to her basket when she is in the boat?

        6. How does she feel? What may happen to the basket in the water?

        7. What does the boy jump into the water for?

        8. What does he do in the water when he can’t find the basket?

        9. Is the duck still in the basket when they get off the boat?

        10. What do they see in the basket when they get off the boat?

        Step3.Present the new words and phrases

        (Show some answers on the screen , and paraphrase them with the new words and phrases.)(課件顯示以下句子)

        1. She is going with nobody else.

        She is going alone. /She is going all by herself.

        2. Now she is standing on one side of the river, on the bank of the river.

        3. Her basket falls in the water.

        She drops her basket in the water carelessly.

        4. The basket may go down soon.

        Perhaps the basket will be missing in the water soon.

        5. The boy swims to get the basket back from the water.

        6. He looks for the basket everywhere.

        He looks around for the basket.

        7. The duck is not in the basket any longer.

        The duck is no longer in the basket..

        T: How interesting it is!

        Let’s read these new words, phrases and sentences together.

        Can you understand the whole story well?

        S: Yes.

        T: What’s it about?

        S:A woman goes shopping by boat, she has a problem.

        T: What do you think of the story?

        S: It’s very interesting.

        Step4.Discuss the questions in Part 1

        T: Yes. I think so .So the story is something like a joke. What about the story in this unit? What’s it about?

        S: Some children go to Monkey Island for a picnic by boat.

        T: Where are they now?

        Let’s have a look! (出示課件Monkey Island)

        S: They are on Monkey Island now.

        T: Have they ever been there before?

        S: No, never.

        T: Yes, that’s right. They have never been there before. It’s a strange place to them. But they like to go there. What about you?

        Do you like to go to a strange place? Why or why not?

        How do you feel when you are alone somewhere?(課件顯示這兩個問題)

        Discuss in groups for several minutes, then give me your opinions.

        Step5.Presentation.

        T: Very good .You see many of you like to visit a strange place and won’t feel afraid. You’re very brave. But remember to be more careful. And the children are brave, too. They’re also very careful.

        Look, what are they doing now?(課件顯示書中圖片)

        They’re doing with the boat,or it may be missing. Look, what are they doing with it? Five children are pulling the boat out of the water. They are trying to pull the boat up from the water. And these three children are pushing the boat out at the back. ( Using the gestures.) (在圖片的相應位置出現(xiàn)這三個詞組)

        Step6.Listen, read, ask and answer questions about the story.

        T: Now the children are all on the island.(課件顯示他們在島上的圖片)

        What did they do on the island before lunch?

        Listen to the tape, then check the answers chiefly.

        T: Books open! Read the passage by yourselves once more. Ask and answer freely about the story.

        Step7. Lesson76,Part1

        T: Where was their picnic basket?

        (Discuss in groups first, accept as many possible answers as they can. Then watch the video and find out the answer.(課件顯示L76,Part 1中的圖片并配音)

        T: What was the true answer?

        S: The monkeys took it away.

        T: Did they eat the food in the basket?

        S: No.

        T: Why not?

        S: Because they couldn’t open the basket.

        T: Did the children eat all the food?

        S: Yes, they did.

        T: Yes. They ate up all the food. There was nothing left, because they were too hungry. But what happened to them when they wanted to go back home after lunch?

        S: The boat was missing.

        T:Yes, they couldn’t find their boat. But the children had to go home. How can the children go home without the boat?(字幕顯示)

        Can you help them find good ways? Now discuss in groups and find out as many ways as possible.

        Step8. Read another story about monkeys.

        T: Good! I agree with you . But I think the best way is to find the boat. Maybe the monkeys took the boat away again. You see, the monkeys were clever and they liked something strange. But are monkeys always clever? Let’s see another story about a man and some monkeys.(發(fā)練習紙)Please read it quickly and try to understand it,then answer the following questions. (略)

        T: What can we learn from the story?

        Ss:Monkeys liked to do as the man did.

        Step9.Homework.

        1. Copy the new words.

        2. Read the whole story and try to retell it in your own words.

        3. Do Ex2 of WB Lesson 74.

        4. Discuss in groups: Did they find the boat at last? Who took it?
