Step I Warming up
Listen to the different kinds of music. See if you can guess which music matches which picture.
Step II Pre-reading:
What kind of music do you like better, Chinese or Western, classical or modern? Why?
Have you heard of any of the famous bands in the world? Which one do you like best? Why?
Do you know anything about “The Monkees”?
Step III Read and listen to the tape. Then join the correct parts of the sentences together.
Step IV Read the passage again and look for the main idea of each paragraph.
Step V Choose the adjectives that you think best describe “The Monkees”
Have a class discussion to see if you all agree. Give your reasons for your choices.
Step VI Ask the students to look for the words and expressions in bold and see if they understand them well. Give explanations to show how to use them.
Step VI Enjoy the foreign music, then discuss which one you like best.
Home work : Talk about “The Monkees” in your own words then write it down.
