        A teaching plan for Unit 2,Module1

        一、Teaching materials:

        Unit 2 They’re going to the opera (Module 1 People and places)

        二、Targets for this period:

        To get information from the reading material about what people are doing in different places

        To get to know how to write a postcard

        Step One Revision

        1. Ask students to do some actions and the others talk about what they are doing.

        2. Write the expressions into English.

        1) 玩得很愉快 have a good time

        2) 買些禮物 buy some presents

        3) 照相 take photos

        4) 穿上衣服 put on the cloths

        5) 中國(guó)長(zhǎng)城 the Great Wall of China

        6) 在太陽(yáng)下 in the sun

        3. Choose the right answer:

        Step Two To pronounce some new words and expressions of Unit 2

        1. Students read the words after the tape.

        2. Students practice pronouncing the words by themselves.

        Step Three Pre-reading

        2. Explain “world time” to the students: The world’s surface is divided into 24 time zones, each one of 15° longitude, or one hour of time. The time is then given as the number of hours ahead (+) or behind (-) Greenwich Mean Time.

        Beijing 01:00 = London 17:00 = Moscow 20:00 = Los Angeles 9:00 = New York 12:00

        At this moment, in different places of the world people are doing different things.

        3. Show some expressions, and them students should remember them as quickly as possible

        Read and find words that have the following meaning. (Activity 1)

        4. going to a place in a car or bus (driving)

        5. music and singing (opera)

        6. put on your clothes (get dressed)

        Step Five To read again and check the true sentences (Activity 3)

        1. Students find out what time it is now in London, Moscow, New York and Los Angeles. Write sentences saying what people are doing or aren’t doing. Join sentences with and.

        e.g. In London it’s five o’clock and people aren’t working. They’re going home. Some people are walking to pubs and have a drink.

        2. Correct their sentences in groups.
