II. Sentences to be recited:
1. My mother is right: don’t damage your health for a slim and attractive figure.
damage用作名詞和及物動詞。
(1) n. [U] 損害,毀壞。如:do/cause damage to …
The storm ___________________________________. 暴風(fēng)雨對農(nóng)作物造成了極大的傷害。
(2) vt.損害,毀壞,如:

[比較] damage和destroy
(1) 相同點:兩者都可用作及動物動詞。
(2) 不同點:damage可作不可數(shù)名詞,而destroy不能用作名詞,其名詞形式為destruction。在破壞的程度上,damage要小于destroy,damage可以指不同程度的損害、毀壞,而destroy則一般指毀滅性的破壞。體會下列句子的差別:
The strong sandstorm damaged most of the young trees.那場強烈的沙塵暴損壞了大部分小樹。
The hurricane destroyed the whole village.颶風(fēng)把整個村子都毀壞了。

amazed adj. (人)感到驚愕、吃驚 be amazed to do.. / at sth / that … 因…大感驚訝

match vi.& vt. 用作及物動詞和不及物動詞。

3.Everyone has advised you not to go on a diet, haven’t they?
advise的用法如下:
(1) 表建議或要求的內(nèi)容的從句中用should加動詞原形,should可省,這類詞除advise外,還有suggest,propose,ask,order,demand,require,insist。如:

(2 ) advise doing sth./advise sb. to do sth.,類似advise用法的還有allow,permit,forbid等詞。如:

contain與include的用法比較如下:
兩者都有“包含,包括”之意,但意義和用法卻不盡相同。
(1) contain:have or hold sth. in itself,表示“包含,含有,內(nèi)裝”。側(cè)重“整體內(nèi)有”,指在某一范圍或容器內(nèi)能容納某物。不用于進行時態(tài)。如:
These valleys ___________________.這些山谷中有金礦。
(2) include:have sth./sb. as a part of a whole,表示“包括”。側(cè)重包含者只是整體中的一部分。如: The list____________________.名單上有我的名字。
[注意] 常用include的現(xiàn)在分詞或過去分詞來作解釋說明,意為“其中包括”。如:
The atlas contains forty maps,_____________________________________.

Class 3 of grade 1 held a discussion yesterday afternoon, they had a heat discussion about health and appearance.
The students for health thought that we should take activities or have food on the basic of health, and that good health is the resource of study and work. They insisted that the people who owned good health could be themselves easily but the people who only owned beautiful appearance couldn’t make great contributions to society, on the contrary this kind of people would be burden of society.
But the supporters of beautiful appearance believed that only healthy body would bring nothing good to us and beautiful appearance would surely help us to be successful in study and work. They were fond of the idea that if we were good looking, we could be real very easy.
