The future can be anything we want to make

I do not know who wrote those words, but I have always liked themas a reminder that the future can be anything we want to makeit.

We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of itanything that we can imagine, just like a sculptor carves a statuefrom a shapeless stone.

We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a goodseed, we reap a good harvest. If our seed is poor and full ofweeds, we reap a useless crop. If we plant nothing at all, weharvest nothing at all.

I want the future to be better than the past. I don’t want itcontaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history isfilled. We should all be concerned about the future because that iswhere we will spend the reminder of our lives.

The past is gone and static. Nothing we can do will change it.The future is before us and dynamic. Everything we do will effectit.

Each day will brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and inour businesses, if we will only recognize them. We are just at thebeginning of the progress in every field of human endeavor.

          Embark on a New Beginning

It is the road you take that decides your destiny but not yourdestiny that decides the road you take.

The question is: Are you satisfied with who you are? Are youdoing what you are capable of doing? Do you get excited about whatyou are going to do when you get up in the morning? It is high timeyou asked these questions that reflect the truth about your life.More often than not we have the ability to achieve much greaterthings, but we get caught in the average things in life and wasteour potential. Each one of us has immense ability. But most of usfail to use it. Why?

          1. There is no exact purpose for your life.

          2. You underestimate yourself.

          3. You are too busy to think about any-thing.

          4. You are in a comfortable zone.

          5. You fear failure.

Ask yourself, what difference am I making in the lives of others?Would you be happy and satisfied with what you have achieved? Areyou following your passion? You must find what you love and whatgives you fulfillment.

Don’t be afraid to make a new beginning. Go deep and explore thepossibilities. As you go deeper and deeper, you begin to addmeaning to your life.

          Burning Your Soul Candle

I have a few candles stored in a drawer in my dining room. They’re meant for romantic dinners and special occasions, but sincethe arrival of our three children they have lain unnoticed amongthe napkins and other things. They are waiting to be taken out andlit to share their glow with anyone who will take the time to baskin their brilliance.

Are not our souls like those candles, patiently waiting forsomeone to come and let us be ourselves? We are all waiting for ourown moments to shine; we each have a special light, unmatched byany other.

Candles are made up of wax and a wick; we have bodies, but ouressence lies in our minds and souls. Candles are unique in theircolors, shapes and designs. Our life histories and experiences arethe backdrops of who we are, but our minds are like candle wicks, and make our passions flame. Unlike the candles in my drawer, whoget used or not used depending on my whims, we control our ownthoughts, and how brightly we will burn or dimly we will shine.

Is your soul candle dimmed by circumstance or lack of passion anddirection? Is it hidden in a drawer of stress, worry or resentment?Make a choice to let yourself shine the way you were meant toshine.

          Thoughts and Actions

Some people go through life standing at the excuse counter.

They say they’d like to do this or that, but then they offer allthe excuses in the world for why they can’t do whatever it is. Nomatter what the excuses are, the only thing that is usuallylimiting them is their own self-perception.

If I’ve learned anything, I’ve learned that a person —any person—may do anything they set their mind on doing. The things you needare willingness to work for what you want, patience to learn whatyou need to know and, most important of all, belief in yourself. You only need a seed, and then your faith in yourself will growwith you as you move forward.

If your self-perception is that you can’t accomplish somethingbecause you’re not smart enough, then take the time to learn whatyou need to know, and then your self-perception will change.

If your self-perception is that you can’t accomplish somethingbecause you never finish anything you start, then go and finishsomething and change your self- perception.

If your self-perception is that you’re too lazy, too busy, toounworthy, too unfocused, too depressed, or too dependent on othersto accomplish great things, then you’re right. You are that becauseyou believe you are, but in fact, you can change that! Life ischange, and the past doesn’t equal the future. Your reality todayis the result of your past beliefs and actions. Change your beliefsand actions, and you will change your future. Whether you think youcan or you can’t, you’re right. You are what you think.

Think about that the next time you need an excuse.

There is a temple at the foot of Nanshan, and an ancient banyan is in front of it.

One morning,a young monk gets up to clean up the courtyard and sees the fallen leaves from the ancient banyan are everywhere,he cant help worrying and look at the tree to sigh.

For his sorrow is on the toppest,he throws down the broom and rushes to his masters room ,then he knocks on the door to plea for interview.

His master hears it and opens the door, when he sees the disciples worried look,he thinks something takes place,so he hurries to ask him:" My disciple, what does you worry about so much in the early morning? "

The young disciple is full of doubt and tells him:"Master, you persuades us to be diligent to cultivate our moral character and grasp the truth day and night, but, even I learn them well ,it is hard to avoid to die.Till that ,so-called me, so-called Dao, arent they just like the defoliation in autumn or the deadwood in winter? and they will be buried by a heap of loess?"

After hearing it ,the old monk points at the ancient banyan and says to the young monk:" My disciple ,you dont need to worry about this.In fact, the defoliation in autumn and the deadwood in winter will climb back to the trees silently and become the flowers in spring and grow up into the leaves in suer at the time of autumnal winds is blowing strongliest and the snow falls down most heavily."

          "Why dont I see it?"

"It is the reason that there isnt any view in your heart, so you cant see the bloom ."

Facing the withering defoliations and imaging they will be in bud,it needs to have an immortal of spring heart, an optimism of heart.

There are always some miseries you will meet in your whole and strike you when you are unprepared, but we dont need to worry day after day for the arrival of this day, and feel sorry to yourself.

Treating the life with the attitude of the optimism, it can not only dissolve the agony and misfortune , but also bring a kind of pleased mood to you everyday and make your life bright and flourishing .

As long as the view is in the heart, arent the paths full of fragrance of flowers everywhere?

There once were two poor woodsmen who made a living by collecting woods in the mountain。 One day, they happened to discover two large bag of cotton in the mountain and felt surprisingly happy。 The cotton was light but valuable, so they carried it on their back and went back home。

When they were walking home, one of the woodsmen spotted a large bundle of cloth beside the road。 So he discussed with his partner whether to discard the cotton and take the cloth instead。 But his partner held a different view that since he had carried the cotton for such a long way, he would not change it with cloth because all his previous effort would turn out to be in vain。 Therefore, the other woodsman abandoned the cotton and carried the cloth on his back。 After walking for a while, the woodsman who carried the cloth spotted several jars of gold disseminated on the ground not far away。 He felt so thrilled that he was going to be a wealthy man。 So he gave up the cloth and used his carrying pole to carry two jars of gold, while his partner was still reluctant to abandon the cotton and wondering whether the gold was real or not。

However, when they just went down to the foot of the mountain, it began to rain all of a sudden。 Both of them were wet from head to toes。 More unfortunately, the woodsman who carried the cotton found that his cotton had absorbed tons of water and became so heavy that he could no longer go on carrying it。 Desperately, he had to abandon the cotton and went back home empty—handed with his partner carrying gold。

This story implies that we should deliberately utilize our wisdom and intelligence to make the right choice in face of every critical point in our life。 Meantime, we should not forget to review all the choices we have carefully and adjust our goal accordingly。 We should learn to view a certain issue from different angles and avoid being stubborn。 By opening your mind to the right choice, you will be guided to a smoother way to success。

A man, a woman and a child are telling the tree their troubles.

“How can I do what you say,” asked the child, “and still be me?”

“Look at me,” said the tree. “I bend in the wind, droop in the rain, yet I always remain myself, a tree.”

The man said. “I can’t change.”

“Look at me,” said the tree, “I change every season from green to brown to green again, from bud to flower to fallen leaf. Yet I always remain myself, a tree.”

“I can’t love any more,” said the woman, “With my love, I have given away all that I am.”

“Look at me,” said the tree. “There are robins in my branches, owls in my trunk, moss and lady bugs living on my bark. They may take what I have, but not what I am.”

Whether we know it or not, we are like the tree. Only our pride hangs on to a false sense of self, wanting to keep everything, refusing to follow advice or spiritual direction.

What we do doesn’t matter; how we do it is what counts. Change and growth is as natural as the sun coming up every morning and the setting of it every night. Go with what is inside you and listen to what your heart tells you. Why not even if just for today, reach out once more to a place that exists outside yourself without or from others…just once more.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
