Ladies and Gentlemen: My topic is Honesty. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story. /chuzhong/chusan/ 65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure. In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth. He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome. When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error. Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character. Thank you.

Hi everyone,
My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I am very happy to receive this award.
As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English,
I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”,and I answered “no”,“So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!
But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.
When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”
But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot.
Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future.
I think I got 10 seconds left, I want to thank to Les and Vera who is my lovely home stay, thanks to Liz collar who is international student coordinator, I strongly want to thank to my mother, because she support me and gave me the opportunity to come to Australia. And thanks to Wantinran College, thanks to Australia and finally, thanks to everyone to be here tonight.
Have a great night.

Gentlemen of the Jury:
The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith.
The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer.
He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden'like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.
After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.
Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part'time job in compilation and revision.
At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.
Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. I do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare time.
Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. The majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. But there are indeed some students still under ignorance. They gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. They're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.
Finally, I do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

Dear teachers and the classmate, everybody!
From 1945 to 20xx, whole 63 of spring and autumn passed.
A hundred years ago, our neighbour Japan, through the Meiji restoration lead onto the bourgeois road, the comprehensive national strength beyond China. So, the once was China's subsidiary resources poor small start chasing China is a vast land the grandeur of jiangshan, they repeatedly with aggression against China, while we once the great country, this time also can only be bullied because of our own sovereignty, cannot on the enemy strong resistance.
Fortunately justice will ultimately prevail over evil. From 1937 to 1945, the Chinese civil exactly eight years time to give the Japanese militarism invading devastated, the aftermath of Japanese militarism in unity of the Chinese people and the world anti-fascist countries before the people of have to pick up the tail and bowed his head. Therefore, it can be said that anti-fascist war's victory was the entire Chinese nation a great event in the history, it is the Chinese people's regrouped, elated, also be the start of the Chinese nation "punch in the east Asia" signs, to stand tall in rank among the beginning.
But unfortunately, such a promising start without a hitch. Civil war, the cultural revolution and the post-war whole world especially many Asian countries economic takeoff first opportunity we missed, China's development through bumpy. Although, our life today and international status has and sixty years ago in contradistinction, but we are not real sense of "power", our comprehensive national strength and Japan still has the very big disparity between. It is for this reason that Japan always in an arrogant attitude towards China, in anti-fascism war 60th anniversary today, their government in correct treatment of history, the attitude is still ambiguity prime minister junichiro koizumi repeated visits to the yasukuni shrine, Congressman publicly denying class-a war criminals crimes.
Comrades, classmates, please close your eyes, you hear me, in war soldiers soul in battle cry, cause death in the war of 35 million people's souls cry... (suggest pause thirty seconds)
A famous adage well said: forgiveness, but don't forget. On the one hand, in state, nation and personal relationship, orlakers-spurs things omnipresent, if no forgiveness, will cause to avenge the are reported. On the other hand, historical facts and the lessons of history can't forget. History will not simple repetition, new international relational schema, hysterical militarism no more market. But at the same time, we also have to see more than 60 years ago we not far from the war, when the Japanese fascist are flagrant, unbridled ground invasion of China, is simply because the Chinese national people poor, weak economic backwardness, and today, and led to war and disaster culture gene, benefit driving still exist, americans still need to be vigilant.
At present, the scientific technology revolution in full swing, third world economic leap development, with the world closer ties of economic development in China is faced with the best time, history tells us, peace and stability of the Chinese nation can let us seize the opportunity of zte. Victory in the Anti-Japanese War on the 60th anniversary of I want to fellow teachers, every colleague and the classmate say: the war and revenge don't for us to win respect, assiduous socks, this is we celebrate victory, memorial YingLie, the best way to remember the history!
My speech, thank everybody!
