　　Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth〞. I hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

　　First I want to ask you some questions:

　　1、 Do you know what is youth?

　　2、 How do you master your youth? Youth Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

　　Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often e某ists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.

　　Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

　　Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s ne某t and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

　　When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

　　青春

　　青春不是指歲月，而是指心態(tài)。粉嫩的臉，紅潤的唇，矯健的膝并不是青春。青春表現(xiàn)在意志的堅強與懦弱。想象的豐富與蒼白、情感的充分與貧乏等方面。青春是生命深處清泉的噴涌。

　　青春是追求。只有當(dāng)勇氣蓋過怯弱、進取壓倒茍安之時，青春才存在。果如此，那么60見之長者比20歲之少年更具青春活力。僅僅歲月的流逝并不能使他們衰老。而一旦拋棄理想和信念，那么垂垂老也。

　　歲月只能使皮膚起皺。而一旦喪失生活的激情，那么連靈魂枯老，使人生枯如死水，毫無活力。

　　60歲長者也好，16歲少年也罷，每個人的內(nèi)心深處都渴望奇跡，都如孩子

　　一般眨著期待的雙眼，期待著下一次，期待著生活的情趣，你我靈魂深處都有一座無線電中轉(zhuǎn)站------只有你我年輕，那么總能聽到希望的呼喚，總能發(fā)出喜悅的歡呼，總能傳達勇氣的訊號，總能表現(xiàn)出青春的活力………

　　一旦青春的天線倒下，你的靈魂即為玩世不恭之雪、悲觀厭世之冰覆蓋;即使你年方20.其實你已垂垂老也。而只要你青春的天線高高聳起，就可以隨時接收到樂觀的電波-----即使你年過八旬，行將就木，而你卻仍然擁有青春，你仍然年輕。

　　You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!

　　也許有人會問我,你相信來世嗎?我的答復(fù)是：我不知道前生,因而也不敢妄談后世.但我真的希望能有來世!因為這輩子時間太短,許多事情都是在還沒弄明白的時候,就已經(jīng)匆匆過去了.我有那么多的理想,我有那么多的心愿,我有那么多的奢望,我有那么多的遺憾,我有那么多的牽掛,我有那么多的雄心壯志,如果沒有來世,那就一切皆空了.

　　I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

　　我不甘心眼前的碌碌無為,我留戀被歲月沖走的本應(yīng)屬于我的親情,更向往從頭再來的完美和成熟.為此,信也好,不信也好,我寧愿有來世.
