          下面A和B中的現(xiàn)在分詞結(jié)構(gòu)主要用于書面英語。

          A如主語同時(shí)做出兩個(gè)動(dòng)作時(shí),通常其中的一個(gè)動(dòng)作可以由現(xiàn)在分詞來表示,這時(shí)分詞既可

          以放在動(dòng)詞不定式之前,也可以放在之后:Herodeaway.Hewhistledashewent.他騎馬走了。他一邊走一邊吹著口哨。相當(dāng)于:Herodeawaywhistling.

          他吹著口哨騎馬走了。

          他一只手拉著繩子,把另一只手伸給水中的男孩。

          B如主語所做的一個(gè)動(dòng)作緊接著所做的另一個(gè)動(dòng)作,第一個(gè)動(dòng)作常常用現(xiàn)在分詞來表示,而且分詞必須放在前面:Heopenedthedrawerandtookoutarevolver.相當(dāng)于:Openingthedrawerhetookoutarevolver.

          他打開抽屜,拿出了一把左輪手槍。

          Sheraisedthetrapdoorandpointedtoaflightofsteps.相當(dāng)于:Raisingthetrapdoorshepointedtoaflightofsteps.

          她把翻板活門拉開,指著一段臺(tái)階。

          這里好像用現(xiàn)在分詞的完成式更合乎邏輯,如Havingopened,Havingraised,Havingtakenoff等。但除了使用現(xiàn)在分詞的一般式可能使意思含混不清的時(shí)候以外,不必要使用完成式。

          舉一個(gè)必須使用分詞完成式的例子:Eatinghisdinnerherushedoutofthehouse會(huì)給人這樣一種印象,好像他手里還拿著菜盤子就走出了房子。因此,這里最好用HavingeatenHisdinner…形式。

          C第二個(gè)動(dòng)作構(gòu)成第一個(gè)動(dòng)作的一部分時(shí)或第二個(gè)動(dòng)作是第一個(gè)動(dòng)作的結(jié)果時(shí),可以用現(xiàn)在分詞表示第二個(gè)動(dòng)作:Shewentout,slammingthedoor.

          這里beingastudent的意思并不是whilehewasastudent(在他學(xué)生時(shí)代)。

          這樣使用的分詞的主語并不一定要與跟在后面的動(dòng)詞的主語相同。它可以帶有自己的主語:Thedaybeingfine,wedecidedtogoswimming.

          天氣好,我們決定去游泳。

          在這種情況下分詞必須跟在作其主語的名詞/代詞之后。Be-ingfinetheday,wedecided…是錯(cuò)誤的。但是Beingathletic,Tomfoundtheclimbquiteeasy(作為運(yùn)動(dòng)員,湯姆覺得這次爬山比較容易)是正確的,因?yàn)闇吠瑫r(shí)是found和后面跟著的climb的主語。同一個(gè)句子中可以連著用兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上的現(xiàn)在分詞:Realizingthathehadn’tenoughmoneyandnotwantingtoborrowfromhisfather,hedecidedtopawnhiswatch.

          作同時(shí)發(fā)生的。因此在這里用分詞的完成式比較合適:Havingreadtheinstructions,hesnatchedupthefireextinguisher.

          看完了說明書之后,他迅速拿起了滅火器。

          如果兩個(gè)動(dòng)作之間有一段間隔,則必須用分詞的完成式:Havingfailedtwice,hedidn’twanttotryagain.

          通常認(rèn)為分詞是說明它前面的名詞或代詞:Tom,horrifiedatwhathehaddone,couldatfirstsaynothing.
