英語作文 篇1
when she was very little, he would pick her up, hum a tune and dance with her around the room, and he would tell her, "i love you, little girl."
when the little girl was growing up, the great man would hug her and tell her, "i love you, little girl." the little girl would pout and say, "im not a little girl anymore." then the man would laugh and say, "but to me, youll always be my little girl."the little girl who-was-not-little-anymore left her home and went into the world. as she learned more about herself, she learned more about the man. she saw that he truly was great and strong, for now she recognized his strengths. one of his strengths was his ability to epress his love to his family. it didnt matter where she went in the world, the man would call her and say, "i love you, little girl."
the day came when the little girl who-was-not-little-anymore received a phone call. the great man was damaged. he had had a stroke. he was aphasic, they eplained to the girl. he couldnt talk anymore and they werent sure that he could understand the words spoken to him he could no longer smile, laugh, walk, hug, dance or tell the little girl who-was-not-little-anymore that he loved her.and so she went to the side of the great man. when she walked into the room and saw him, he looked small and not strong at all. he looked at her and tried to speak, but he could not.
the little girl did the only thing she could do. she climbed up on the bed net to the great man. tears ran from both of their eyes and she drew her arms around the useless shoulders of her father.her head on his chest, she thought of many things. she remembered the wonderful times together and how she had always felt protected and cherished by the great man. she felt grief for the loss she was to endure, the words of love that had comforted her.and then she heard from within the man, the beat of his heart. the heart where the music and the words had always lived. the heart beat on, steadily unconcerned about the damage to the rest of the body. and while she rested there, the magic happened. she heard what she needed to hear.
his heart beat out the words that his mouth could no longer say …
i love you! i love you! i love you!
little girl! little girl! little girl!
and she was comforted.
英語作文 篇2
The newspaper is one of the many mediums of carrying information to us. No wonder people often say: “ Even without stepping out of my house, I am well-informed of al that has been happening in the world.”
We get all kinds of news from newspapers. Newspapers can tell us about various events, past and future, domestic and foreign. Besides, they can teach us a lot of useful things. In fact, everyone can find something he wants from newspapers, and everyone enjoys reading them everyday.
Reading newspapers can widen our scope of knowledge. Not only they help us improve our reading ability but they can help us enhance our ideology. Because of all these benefits, I like reading newspapers.
My Opinion of Today’s Education
I think one of the main problems with today’s education is that too much emphasis is placed on test scores. It has become the most important criterion for college enrollment. A student, however creative and intelligent, will not be admitted into a college if his total scores are just one point less than required. It is also one of the crucial factors either in job assignment or in employment competitions.
The competition for high scores among students becomes intense. Students find themselves concentrating more on strategies to achieve high scores than on acquiring knowledge. They will play truant of some subsidiary course, skip over the substance which will not be tested on, even pump teachers for hints on upcoming exams. Teachers are apt to give their students high scores. As their job is judged mainly by the students’ performance in terms of scores, some teachers tend to set easy papers to test their students on or narrow down the scope of the exam. Some teachers even leak “accidentally” the exam questions or lower their criterion of scoring.
As a result, the competition for high scores becomes so intense that it actually defeats academic goals of education.
英語作文 篇3
My school is in the east (東邊) of the city. It is very beautiful like a park. Let me show you around it.
The school gate faces south (南方). When you go into my school, you can find the school gym on your left. The lab building is behind the school building and the next is the studentsdormitory (寢室). If the studentshomes are far away from the school they can live here. Behind the gym there is a playground and a swimming pool. We have our P.E. lessons here. Between the sports area and the lab there is a garden with a lot of lovely flowers. The studentscafeteria (自助食堂) is in the corner near the studentsdormitory.
There are more than one hundred teachers and two thousand students in the school. They are working hard. I like my school very much.
