英語作文 篇1
Thank You, My Mother
Wherever we are today, whatever we are, we owe it to our parents who have given and taught us so much, so we should thank them, especially, thank our mother. I think my mother is one of the best mothers in the world.
She is the busiest one in my family. She does chores for the family and cares about my study. She has taught me a lot. She does lots of things for me. But she never wants anythings in return.
How will I show my thanks to my mother? First, this year, I am going to give her a surprise birthday party and buy her a special present. Second, I’ll do well in school. Third, I’ll help her do housework when I’m free. I want to make her happy. In a word, I love my mother.
英語作文 篇2
Not all lectures serve as utilitarian tools. You have to turn to the perfect series of lectures on quantum mechanics presented by Professor Su Rukeng to see a case in which the class plays an exclusively and purely academic role, providing you with motivation, inspiration and philosophy.
With medium stature, thick spectacles and insightful eyes, not only does Professor Su possess the typical characteristics of a learned man, but he is also a genuine scholar, which is reflected in his classes distinctly.
It is generally assumed that lectures on pure science delivered by a conventional scientist, usually indifferent and emotionless, are boring and extremely difficult in that the expression of such topics, if not sheerly descriptive, is inevitably and completely mathematical and analytical without lively pictures. However, that is not Mr. Su's style.
On the contrary, ranked among the most enjoyable and comprehensible lecturers, Mr. Su is characterized by the encyclope dic knowledge, the appreciable and vivid physical picture visual
ization, the intuitive and profound philosophical ideas and the exceptionally attractive burnout.
As a scientist engaged in the study of nature and the explanation of the universe, Mr. Su seriously believes in the harmony and simplicity, as the fundamental essences, of the natural world, which compose the central motives of his ideology and are the real significance that we learn from him.
As a consequence, Professor Su, together with his extraor dinary creativeness and imaginativeness, exerts a strong influence upon us and greatly encourages us to ponder on the essence of the universe and our lives.
英語作文 篇3
Welcome to Daily Tips on Learning English. Today’s tip is on the difference in meaning between “stop doing something” and “stop to do something”.
“stop doing something” means not to do that any more, but “stop to do something” means stop one thing in order to do something else.
Let’s look at a clear example. “We stopped dancing.” “We stopped to get some drinks.” These sentences can even be put together to form “We stopped dancing to get some drinks.” Is the meaning clear? We were dancing but we got hot and thirsty, so we stopped. Why? Because we wanted to get some drinks. After we stopped, we got some drinks. Before we stopped, we were dancing. So, can you hear the difference in meaning between these two sentences? “We stopped to study” and “We stopped studying”. The first sentence “We stopped to study” means we are studying now. We were doing something else, maybe talking or watching TV, but we stopped doing that in order to study. On the other hand, the second sentence “We stopped studying” means we are not studying now. We were studying before but we stopped, maybe because we were tired or hungry.
Let’s take another example. “We stopped talking” and “We stopped to talk”. “We stopped talking” means it is quiet now because we are not talking anymore. “We stopped to talk” means we are talking now. Maybe we were walking on the sidewalk, saw each other, and stopped walking so that we can talk for a while.
So remember to be careful when choosing the verb form after “stop” as it changes the meaning of the sentence. This has been today’s daily tip. Tune in tomorrow for another tip.

英語作文 篇5
Every time I write a diary, I don’t know what to write. To me, every day is the same. I just do the routine study. Get up early in the morning, eat my breakfast, go to school, go home after class, eat my dinner, and go to sleep after I finish my homework. Then the next day I will do the same. But now I learn to look at things from another angle. I start to observe what happens around me every day; even it is a little incident. When I help a little girl cross the street, or I see something interesting, I will keep it in mind and Write it down. If I use my eyes and head more, I will know what to write in a diary.

英語作文 篇6
Archaeology is a source of history, not just a bumble auxiliary discipline. Archaeological data are historical documents in their own right, not mere illustrations to written texts, Just as much as any other historian, an archaeologist studies and tries to reconstitute the process that has created the human world in which we live - and us ourselves in so far as we are each creatures of our age and social environment. Archaeological data are all changes in the material world resulting from human action or, more succinctly, the fossilized results of human behavior. The sum total of these constitutes what may be called the archaeological record. This record exhibits certain peculiarities and deficiencies the consequences of which produce a rather superficial contrast between archaeological history and the more familiar kind based upon written records.
Not all human behavior fossilizes. The words I utter and you hear as vibrations in the air are certainly human changes in the material world and may be of great historical significance. Yet they leave no sort of trace in the archaeological records unless they are captured by a dictaphone or written down by a clerk. The movement of troops on the battlefield may "change the course of history," but this is equally ephemeral from the archaeologist's standpoint. What is perhaps worse, most organic materials are perishable. Everything made of wood, hide, wool, linen, grass, hair, and similar materials will decay and vanish in dust in a few years or centuries, save under very exceptional conditions. In a relatively brief period the archaeological record is reduce to mere scraps of stone, bone, glass, metal, and earthenware. Still modern archaeology, by applying appropriate techniques and comparative methods, aided by a few lucky finds from peat-bogs, deserts, and frozen soils, is able to fill up a good deal of the gap.
