Certificate Craze on Campus
In recent years, to get a certificate has become a new craze among college students. Just randomly ask a student on campus what he or she is busy doing, quite possibly, you may get the answer that he is preparing for a certificate of some kind. Why does this craze appear?
There are mainly two reasons behind this phenomenon. To begin with, it is the employment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the admission expansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job market. How can one make himself more competitive? More certificates at hand, maybe. Furthermore, diploma and certificates are still vital standards by which a good many employers measure a person’s ability. In order to increase the qualifications for a job, the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.
From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability. Being crazy in getting certificates blindly is nothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.

Some fish are forced to leave polluted water and are flying in the sky. But unfortunately, air is also so polluted that they have to wear masks. Each of them is crying, “Where is my home?” What a terrible sight!
Mankind has brought so much pollution. Waste is being poured into rivers and seas. Poisons to kill pests in farming and chemicals go into rivers and seas, too. Poisonous gasses from factories also make the air so dirty. The whole balance of nature is being destroyed as a result of our ignorance of the environmental protection.
Personally, man can not live alone on the earth. Should fish die from serious pollution, so would man! It is high time we did something to prevent such a scene from happening.

一、研究背景
在實際教學中,我們發(fā)現(xiàn)傳統(tǒng)的文科教學,在作文(包括英語作文)的批改上盛行著兩種方法:一是教師用刺眼的紅筆進行“√”和“×”批閱,最后用一兩句不痛不癢的話稍作點評;另一種則是教師經常對學生的作文進行面批。對于前者,幾乎所有人(包括進行批改的教師)都認為其效果甚微,這種簡單但過于“粗放”的方式顯然已跟不上當今的英語教學;但對于后者,在肯定其效果以及教師的敬業(yè)心之時,我們不得不為那超負荷的工作量給教師身心帶來的巨大壓力而擔心,同時也為他們在外語教育和教學時間分配上的合理性感到憂慮。毫無疑問,作文批改已成為英語教師和其他文科教師最耗時和最疲憊的工作。而且,即使付出了許多時間和精力,其反饋效果還是不太理想,使得很多學生學了十多年的英語,卻拿不出一篇通順像樣的作文。為此,筆者試圖從傳承與創(chuàng)新的角度,提出幾種想法,以求教于大方。
二、研究的內容和方法
教師的批改和反饋不僅要給學生的作文一個等級或者分數(shù),還要作出一種過程評價。只有充分體會到了寫作和反饋的過程,學生才能始終處于一種主動的學習之中,反饋的效果才會更加趨向于合理化和理想化。因為學生寫作是一個過程,寫作后的反饋是寫作過程的延續(xù),學生寫作能力的提高與否同教師的反饋效果密切相關。由此可見,有效批改和反饋的作用不言而喻。那么,如何對學生的作文進行有效的批改和反饋呢?
1. 創(chuàng)造人性化的反饋環(huán)境,兼顧不同學生的寫作水平
所謂創(chuàng)造人性化的反饋環(huán)境是指教師應該站在學生的`立場上,貼近每位學生的興趣、愛好和個性特長因材施“評”。這不僅可以緩解學生思想上的壓力,還可以激發(fā)學生的寫作興趣。因此,對于寫作基礎較好的學生除了肯定之外還要給出改進意見;對于寫作基礎較差的學生,則應采取鼓勵與指導相結合的方式——使用激勵性的語言樹立其自信心,并用商量的口氣予以指導。
(1)當堂批改
學生剛寫好作文,對題目的理解、構思、結構、用詞造句等都還記憶猶新,若此時教師趁熱打鐵,當堂指導學生進行批改,就能產生很好的批改效果。如:以“How to Build a Harmonious Society?”為例,筆者根據(jù)對學生的了解,制訂了如下的當堂批改方案。分別選出好、中、差各一篇作文(不署名且事先不告訴學生各篇作文的等級),通過教室投影放映給全班學生閱讀,然后通過電腦顯示提供評價標準:作者的觀點是否明確;各段是否服務于該觀點;段落間及段與段的連接是否合理、流暢;結尾是否做到了首尾呼應或深化主題,或提出了解決問題的建議等。再讓學生對照標準,評價這三篇作文。這樣做的目的在于讓學生明白作文評分要從內容(思想和材料)、語言和結構三方面入手。接著要求學生對這三篇作文作總體反饋。學生的反饋與實際情況可能大相徑庭,不過教師恰好可以就這點進行針對性的分析。然后,教師再進行示范性的分析,分別指出三篇課堂習作中的優(yōu)缺點。這樣,不同層次的學生都有了參照,都有了發(fā)展的空間,也便于學生對自己的作文有更為深入的了解。
(2)彩色批改
傳統(tǒng)的做法是教師用紅筆批改學生作文中的錯誤,然后給出分數(shù)。紅筆批閱的內容也就是錯誤的內容。殊不知,學生的心理是害怕紅色,甚至抵制紅色的。既然這樣,那何不換位思考一下呢? 不妨試著和學生進行溝通,使用一些學生認可的方法進行批改。有些教師在批改學生作文時,嘗試用綠色熒光筆畫出學生習作中的好詞好句,用紫色畫出學生在時態(tài)和搭配等方面的錯誤。紫色的批改常側重在句子層面的錯誤上,更易于學生進行改錯和加強記憶。實踐證明,用除紅色外的彩筆進行修改,不會對學生造成視覺上的沖擊,可以緩解紅色的過度“警示作用”對學生自信的打擊。所以,彩色批改法不僅不傷害學生的自尊,而且還使教師和學生擺脫了審美疲勞。這種批改方法也可用于學生的相互批改中。
(3)符號批改
根據(jù)研究,教師的批改中有相當一部分屬于“雞肋”,因為這些所謂的“錯誤”僅僅是與教師的風格不太吻合而已。如此“食而無味”的“雞肋”不僅不能提高學生的寫作水平,還有可能因此而改變了學生原想表達的意思。符號批改的出現(xiàn),既減輕了教師的負擔,又給學生提供了思考的余地。學生由接受教師的既定觀點變成了主動進行探究性的學習,使學生真正成為寫作的受益者。
