          目前筆者所在地區(qū)采用的是新編北師大版高中英語教材。這套教材一大優(yōu)點(diǎn)在于其語言材料的組織都是圍繞某個(gè)主題展開的。每單元有一個(gè)主題,下面每一課都有自己的話題,對(duì)于這些話題學(xué)生都較感興趣,有話可說。這樣的教材編排特點(diǎn)適合開展主題寫作活動(dòng)。每個(gè)單元的前三課或四課是單元話題下的基本詞匯、短語、句型和語法項(xiàng)目的學(xué)習(xí),Communication Workshop是對(duì)單元知識(shí)的擴(kuò)展和綜合運(yùn)用,通常有基于單元話題的寫作指導(dǎo)及任務(wù)。學(xué)生獲得的單元基礎(chǔ)語言知識(shí)以及他們運(yùn)用語言知識(shí)的準(zhǔn)確和熟練程度,完全可以通過話題寫作活動(dòng)來檢驗(yàn)和強(qiáng)化,而且主題寫作活動(dòng)可以體現(xiàn)語言學(xué)習(xí)的價(jià)值和意義。

          (二) 主題寫作教學(xué)實(shí)例

          下面結(jié)合新編北師大版高中英語教材第7模塊,第21單元的主題寫作教學(xué)案例進(jìn)行探析。

          本單元的話題是人類生物學(xué),通過單元學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生應(yīng)能夠流利地運(yùn)用單元目標(biāo)詞匯和基本句型來討論有關(guān)人類科學(xué)的相關(guān)話題。食物、健康和醫(yī)學(xué)是人類生存和發(fā)展中永恒的話題。學(xué)生對(duì)人類科學(xué)有較為濃厚的興趣,所以此單元話題下的寫作圍繞人類發(fā)展展開,貼近學(xué)生的生活,易于激發(fā)學(xué)生的寫作興趣。學(xué)生對(duì)單元主題詞匯和基礎(chǔ)語句已經(jīng)有了一定的掌握和積累,能夠用單元基礎(chǔ)語言材料組織語句,表達(dá)自己的想法。教師在指導(dǎo)學(xué)生進(jìn)行主題寫作時(shí),完全可以依托單元話題語料。

          克隆人是在人類生物學(xué)發(fā)展到今天無法回避的話題,但具有極大爭(zhēng)議性,這種本身有爭(zhēng)議的話題正適合本單元Communication Workshop的寫作要求Learn to write a discursive essay,此文體要求學(xué)生第一段介紹話題,第二三段分述反面觀點(diǎn)及正面觀點(diǎn),最后一段給出個(gè)人觀點(diǎn)。但由于克隆人在現(xiàn)實(shí)世界中還沒有出現(xiàn),同時(shí)又遠(yuǎn)離學(xué)生生活,因此為了給學(xué)生帶來更直觀的感受,教師最好課前布置所有同學(xué)回家觀看電影《逃離克隆島》,這部電影探討了科隆人及其引發(fā)的道德問題。

          課堂上教師首先利用大量的與主題相關(guān)的圖片、電影片段等創(chuàng)設(shè)談?wù)摽寺∪说姆諊,讓學(xué)生用英語表明自己對(duì)克隆人這一科學(xué)話題的態(tài)度。這一活動(dòng)激活了學(xué)生寫作所需的話題詞匯,可以作為寫前的熱身。從交際功能的角度講,這樣的聽、說形式的語言活動(dòng),不但不會(huì)沖擊主題寫作活動(dòng),反而與主題寫作教學(xué)是相互統(tǒng)一、相互促進(jìn)的。

          在完成上述活動(dòng)后,教師引導(dǎo)學(xué)生通過小組合作寫一段話介紹克隆人話題并過渡到Should Human Cloning be allowed?這一主題上。這一活動(dòng)調(diào)動(dòng)了學(xué)生的寫作積極性和主動(dòng)參與意識(shí),在輕松活躍的氛圍中強(qiáng)化了其對(duì)概括技巧的理解和運(yùn)用,學(xué)生的語言儲(chǔ)備和發(fā)散思維得到充分激活,他們更加愉悅和主動(dòng)地參與主題討論,為下一步的寫作活動(dòng)做好前期準(zhǔn)備。

          在完成上述活動(dòng)的基礎(chǔ)上,通過課本P99的Writing Help引導(dǎo)學(xué)生通過小組協(xié)作完成a discursive essay的后三段提綱,要求第二三段分別寫出中心句及至少兩個(gè)論據(jù);谛〗M活動(dòng)的寫作練習(xí)實(shí)際上幫助學(xué)生搜集有說服力的論據(jù)并克服對(duì)寫作的畏難情緒,讓他們有信心完成寫作。這種形式的寫作訓(xùn)練強(qiáng)化了學(xué)生的語言運(yùn)用技能,幫助學(xué)生初步完成單元寫作要求,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的寫作思維和寫作能力。

          在提綱寫作的基礎(chǔ)上,引導(dǎo)學(xué)生利用Writing Help中的格式要求(正式與中立的風(fēng)格),以及Communication Workshop中的連接詞(although, even though, however, therefore, while)獨(dú)立完成寫作任務(wù)。此寫作活動(dòng)充分強(qiáng)化了有關(guān)連接詞的理解即運(yùn)用,提高了學(xué)生的寫作能力。
